Authentication

Frankfurt Financial District dial text must be present and legible; counterfeit Sinn dials with incorrect text are a known issue.

Known issues in the market

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The 6068 is Sinn's dress chronograph in the 6000 Series, unusual among Sinn references for its two-tone dial options (black or silver). The Valjoux 7750 base with day/date is shared with the 103, but the 6068 is positioned as a smarter, dressier piece with a flat case profile.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

The 6068 has very low replica exposure. The niche dress-chronograph positioning and modest secondary market prices make it an unattractive replication target.

  • Applied indices replaced with printed numerals
  • Rotating bezel on a reference that should have a fixed bezel
  • Dial color inconsistent with the stated variant (black vs. silver)

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2009 to present (black dial)Matte black dial with silver chronograph registers, three sub-dials in Valjoux 7750 layout, day and date. The 6068 has a thinner and more refined aesthetic than the pilot-focused Sinn references.
  • "SINN" and "6068" text on the dial
  • Three chronograph registers: 30-minute at 12, running seconds at 9, 12-hour at 6
  • Day and date complication at 3 o'clock area
  • Contrasting register color against the main dial (silver registers on black main dial, or subdued registers on silver dial)
  • No bezel scale -- the 6068 uses a plain brushed bezel without timing markings
  • Applied indices rather than printed numerals -- the 6068 is dressier than the pilot line
2009 to present (silver dial)Warm silver or champagne main dial with darker contrasting registers and applied indices. A dress-watch aesthetic uncommon in the Sinn range.
  • Silver or champagne main dial surface with matte or lightly textured finish
  • Darker toned sub-dial registers creating contrast against the main dial
  • "SINN" text in black or dark tone rather than white
  • Applied indices at hours rather than Arabic numerals
  • Date and day display at consistent position with the black dial variant

Applied indices

Original: The 6068 uses applied indices rather than printed numerals, which is unusual for Sinn. These applied markers are individually set and should have consistent height and surface finish across all positions.

Replacement tells
  • Any index that sits lower or higher than its neighbors -- height consistency is the tell for genuine applied indices vs. replacements
  • Index color or finish different from its neighbors under the same light source -- a replaced index will not match the aging character of the originals
  • Printed numerals on a stated 6068 with applied indices -- indicates a non-original dial
Plain bezel

Original: Fixed, plain brushed steel bezel without scale markings. No rotation. This is the dress-watch approach for the 6068, distinguishing it from the pilot line.

Replacement tells
  • Bezel that rotates -- the 6068 has no bezel rotation function
  • A bezel with scale markings (tachymeter, telemeter) from a different Sinn reference fitted to the 6068 case
  • Bezel surface with polished facets inconsistent with the brushed steel specification

Case back markings

toggle
2009 to present
  • "SINN SPEZIALUHREN" and "GERMANY"
  • "6068" reference and "Frankfurt Financial District" text (on some variants)
  • "WATER RESIST 200M" depth rating
  • Serial number on case band

Movement tells

toggle
  • Valjoux 7750 beats at 28,800bph, 42-hour power reserve. A fully wound 6068 stopping before 36 hours warrants service.
  • Day and date should advance together at midnight. Gradual advance or misalignment between day and date indicates worn quickset mechanism.
  • Chronograph hands should reset to zero simultaneously with a single pusher press. Sequential or sticky reset indicates worn heart cams.
