The bezel is the complication. Turn it to a city and the hour hand, the 24-hour display and the date should all move together in one action.
Known issues in the market
- A replica Big Pilot case with a printed city bezel is straightforward to build; a bezel mechanically coupled to the motion work is not. Testing the bezel settles most questions.
- This is a past-collection edition of 250 pieces, so provenance and papers matter more than usual. The Timezoner mechanism itself continues in current TOP GUN references, which are different watches.
- IWC has used the Timezoner name across several cases and materials. Steel, Ceratanium and ceramic versions all exist with different reference numbers.

Common legitimate replacements
- The strap is a consumable and IWC supplied this edition on leather. A replacement should still be a genuine part given the edition size.
- The Timezoner mechanism should be serviced by IWC; the bezel coupling is not conventional watchmaking.
