Authentication

The Erwin single-pusher chronograph must start, stop, and reset in three-phase sequence from one pusher; any Erwin with two pushers has been incorrectly described.

Known issues in the market
  • The monopusher sequence is start on first press, stop on second press, reset on third press; verify all three phases work correctly.
  • The Cal. A11MS is Habring2 in-house; two pushers means a different movement.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Erwin is a bicompax single-button monopusher chronograph from Habring², a micro-manufacture run by Richard and Maria Habring in Austria. The A11MS caliber is based on a modified Valjoux 7760, with a column wheel replacing the original cam mechanism. This modification is visible through the sapphire caseback and is the primary mechanical authentication point.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

No reproduction market exists for this reference at current prices and volumes.

  • Cam-based chronograph visible through caseback instead of column wheel
  • Standard Valjoux rotor without Habring modification
  • Dial quality inconsistent with the carefully hand-assembled originals

The real risk is an unmodified Valjoux 7760 base being sold as a Habring piece after informal service.

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2015 to presentBicompax dial with small seconds at 9 and 30-minute counter at 3. Silver, black, salmon, or blue options. Applied indices and faceted hands. 38.5mm steel case at 9mm height.
  • "HABRING²" or "HABRING" at 12
  • Bicompax layout: two sub-registers at 9 and 3
  • Single pusher at 2 (monopusher chronograph: start, stop, reset in sequence)
  • No date on the standard Erwin
  • 38.5mm case, noticeably compact for a chronograph

Service part flags

Column wheel

Original: Habring² replaced the Valjoux 7760's cam system with a column wheel during their modification. The column wheel is visible through the caseback as a small star-shaped component that rotates with each pusher press.

Replacement tells
  • Cam-controlled chronograph visible through caseback (un-modified Valjoux 7760 base)
  • Column wheel absent in the movement through caseback
  • Pusher action without the positive column-wheel click feel
Movement finishing

Original: Small-scale finishing consistent with a 200-piece-per-year manufacture. Bridges are decorated. Not Glashütte-tier, but clearly hand-assembled and finished.

Replacement tells
  • Movement with factory Valjoux decoration and no Habring modification marks
  • Rotor without Habring branding

Case back markings

toggle
2015 to present
  • "HABRING²" and Vienna/Austria identification
  • Cal. A11MS designation
  • Serial number (low numbers given the small production volume)
  • Steel case notation

Movement tells

toggle
  • Cal. A11MS power reserve is 52 hours. Below 44 hours from a full wind indicates service.
  • Monopusher sequence: single press starts, second press stops, third press resets. Any deviation indicates a column wheel issue.
  • Beat rate is 21,600 vph (3Hz). Seconds hand advances in 1/6-second steps.
