What it is

Anonimo was founded in Florence in 1997 by Carlo Crocco, himself a founder of Hublot, with the explicit goal of making Italian military-heritage watches for professional use. The Nautilo line is the brand's water-sports answer, leaning on the bronze case and 200m depth rating that defined the original Anonimo aesthetic. The current AM-1002 uses a Sellita SW300 base movement modified and regulated by Anonimo; it is not a manufacture caliber but it is a serious daily driver.

The 42mm sizing is compact for the category, which is a deliberate choice: Anonimo has always positioned against the oversized watch trend.

Buying notes

Bronze requires active care. The alloy Anonimo uses will patinate predictably in saltwater, sweat, and sun exposure; buyers who want a watch that looks the same in five years should buy steel. Check the case and crown seal condition closely on any used example, as 200m-rated bronze watches that have seen real ocean use need regular pressure testing and gasket replacement to stay rated.

The Sellita SW300 base is well-supported for service, but some buyers at this price expect a manufacture movement; if that matters to you, this watch will not satisfy.

New Nautilo 42 examples retail in the 2,000 to 3,000 EUR range depending on dial and strap configuration. The secondary market for Anonimo is thin globally: the brand has a loyal following in Italy and among military-heritage collectors, but low secondary-market volume means pricing can be inconsistent. Condition matters more here than for mass-market references; a well-preserved example with box and papers trades at a meaningful premium over a user-grade piece.

Service expectations

The Sellita SW300 base movement is fully serviceable by any competent watchmaker with Sellita-trained experience; parts are available through standard channels. Anonimo offers factory service through their Florence operation. Gasket replacement and pressure testing should be done every three to five years for any watch used in water, independent of the full service cycle.
