Authentication

Unidirectional bezel must rotate counterclockwise only; bidirectional rotation means the ratchet has failed.

Known issues in the market
  • The ratchet mechanism prevents clockwise rotation; any counterclockwise rotation while diving would read as a safety-side error; clockwise rotation underreads dive time.
  • The F6922 is Orient in-house; the caseback confirms the Orient movement architecture.

Last reviewed June 2026

The Ray III is Orient's 200m diver, updated with a unidirectional rotating bezel and in-house automatic movement. It competes with the Seiko SKX family at the same price point but uses Orient's own caliber.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

Ray III is a budget model; reproductions are not economically sensible.

  • The main risk is a damaged bezel mechanism or replaced parts on used pieces

Bezel

Original: Unidirectional rotating bezel; firm single-direction clicks.

Replacement tells
  • Bidirectional bezel on the Ray III is incorrect
  • Loose or inconsistent clicks suggest bezel mechanism wear or replacement

Case back markings

toggle
2019 to present
  • "ORIENT WATCH CO., LTD." and caliber designation
  • "200M / 20ATM" water resistance
  • "JAPAN"
  • Serial number

Movement tells

toggle
  • F6922 is a robust in-house caliber; service at 5-year intervals is typical.
  • The hack function should stop the seconds hand cleanly; poor hacking suggests service needed.
  • Rotor should be Orient-signed; check through caseback if exhibition, or confirm with caseback removal.
