The Planetarium Eise Eisinga displays the orbital positions of the six inner planets (Mercury through Saturn) on the dial, following their actual orbital periods. The miniature solar system model operates at true proportional periods, not approximations. This is among the most complex dial complications in production. Limited to 12 pieces in the 2020 initial run.

  • Fewer than six planet indicators from Mercury through Saturn
  • All planets advancing at the same rate -- a genuine planetarium has visibly different orbital speeds
  • Planetary positions not corresponding to astronomical almanac data for the current date

The Planetarium Eise Eisinga is a 12-piece limited edition with individual serial numbers. Provenance documentation from CVDK is available for each piece and should accompany any transaction. Replication is mechanically impossible at any economically viable cost.

Planetary indicators

Original: Each of the six planet indicators is a separate disc or pointer tracking its own gear train calibrated to the actual orbital period. Mercury and Venus complete orbits in months; Mars in approximately two years; Jupiter in approximately 12 years; Saturn in approximately 29 years. Jupiter and Saturn indicators should be visibly stationary over a normal observation period.

Replacement tells
  • Fewer than six planet indicators -- the Planetarium Eise Eisinga shows Mercury through Saturn; any fewer indicates a non-original dial or movement
  • Planetary indicators that all rotate at the same speed -- each should advance at a visually different rate, with Mercury noticeably faster than the outer planets
  • Any planet indicator in the wrong orbital sequence from the center outward

Original: Automatic, 96-hour power reserve, twin barrels. The movement includes the planetarium module as an integrated complication module above the base automatic caliber.

Movement tells

  • Power reserve is 96 hours from twin barrels. Consistent running time below 80 hours indicates mainspring service.
  • The planetary gear train does not need adjustment at normal service intervals. However, after movement disassembly, the planetary positions must be set correctly by reference to an astronomical almanac before reassembly.
