Genuine bronze patinas unevenly with wear and moisture exposure; a case that looks uniformly "aged" straight out of the box, or that will not patina at all, is not solid bronze.
Known issues in the market
- The dial has no date window: a Luminor Marina Bronzo example with a date aperture at 3 o'clock is not this reference and is either a different Luminor Marina model or misrepresented.
- Bronze-colored (PVD or plated) steel cases are sold as "bronze" Panerai watches; plated finishes do not patina the way solid copper-tin bronze does and often show wear-through to a silver base metal at high-contact points.
- The caseback is a sapphire display back in a titanium surround; a solid, non-exhibition caseback on a watch sold as this reference is inconsistent with the genuine build.

Common legitimate replacements
- Ships with a dark blue calf leather strap (ecru stitching) plus an additional dark blue rubber strap; both use quick-release bars, so a swapped strap is not itself a red flag.
