Authentication
Anordain enamel dials are handmade in Glasgow; any cracking or surface lift is a fabrication defect, not a fake indicator, but undisclosed damage is common on resale.
Known issues in the market
- Enamel dials can develop hairline cracks if dropped or subjected to rapid temperature change; sellers may not disclose.
- Very limited secondary market means pricing is speculative.
| Area | What to check | What is correct | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| dial | Enamel surface integrity | No hairline cracks visible under magnification, depth of color consistent across the entire dial surface, no lifting at the dial feet | Hairline cracks (hairlines are serious on enamel because they propagate), color depth variation suggesting a repair attempt, any sign of re-firing |
| case | Steel case finishing | Consistent with Anordain Model 1 specification; mixed finishing with sharp transitions | All-polished case suggesting buffing, tool marks on crown area |
| movement | Movement and exhibition caseback | Movement specification consistent with stated caliber; decoration visible through caseback matches production spec | Movement that does not match stated specification |
Common legitimate replacements
- Straps commonly replaced.
Expert resources: Anordain can verify serial numbers. Enamel dial inspection under magnification and in raking light is essential before purchase.
Authentication guide
Last reviewed June 2026
Glasgow-based Anordain makes all enamel dials in-house. The kiln-fired enamel surface has a depth and subtle orange-peel texture under magnification that is the primary authentication point. No replica exists.
