Urban Jurgensen
Brand history
Founded in Copenhagen in 1773; revived from 1979 by the Swiss collector-watchmaker Peter Baumberger, and now manufactured in Biel/Bienne, hand-finishing movements to a standard that approaches Philippe Dufour. Danish dial signature, Swiss manufacture.
Founded in Copenhagen in 1773, but not continuously: the house was revived from 1979 by the Swiss collector-watchmaker Peter Baumberger, and the modern company manufactures in Biel rather than Denmark. The 1773 date is real history, not unbroken trading. What carries over is the Danish dial signature; the hand-finishing standard, which approaches Dufour's, is a modern achievement rather than an inherited one.
