Pforzheim watches

References in the Grail Atlas catalog made in Pforzheim.

Pforzheim in Baden-Württemberg, known historically as the "Goldstadt" (Gold City) for its jewellery and watch-component industry, is the base of Laco, whose Flieger references directly descend from the German aviation-watch contracts of the 1930s. Laco was one of five manufacturers that supplied the Beobachtungsuhren and Fliegeruhren to the Luftwaffe. The catalog's Laco references (Pilot Original and Augsburg) use modern ETA movements in cases whose specification, 55mm diameter, onion crown, matte finish, is taken directly from the historical originals. Pforzheim's watch-component manufacturing tradition also supplies movement parts and cases to several Swiss brands.
