The traditional spring barrel is moved to the top thanks to the addition of a disengagement mechanism associated with automatic winding, to create a regular power output for the balance wheel, marking the launch of the new System 78 collection. The origin of the Gravity Equal Force was the desire to transmit equal force to the balance wheel, improving running consistency; Armin Strom developed a disengagement mechanism operating inside the barrel, a first for an automatic winding movement.
