Type 4

Ressence's solar-powered oil-filled reference: the Type 4 combines the ROCS 4 module with an integrated solar cell that powers an e-Crown complication while the mechanical movement runs continuously. The oil-filled upper chamber carries the same no-parallax display as the Type 3; the 44 mm titanium case adds 30 m water resistance. Ressence's most technically dense standard-catalog piece.

Which ref to buy

The Type 4 uses solar charging to power the e-Crown setting system, eliminating the battery replacement requirement from the Type 2 concept. The mechanical movement is still self-winding; solar charges the electronic setting module only.

  1. 1

Type 4 -- solar-charged e-Crown eliminates the battery concern from the Type 2.

    The case for it:
Solar charging the electronic module is the correct engineering solution to the Type 2's battery dependency. If you want the e-Crown convenience without the battery replacement concern, the Type 4 is the better answer.
    Consider instead if:
The Type 4 is the most complicated and expensive Ressence. For most buyers, the Type 1 is the purer expression of the brand concept at a better price.
