Gold-colored dials appear primarily on dress references in yellow-gold cases (Patek Calatrava in yellow gold, Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso in yellow gold, Vacheron Constantin Patrimony in yellow gold). The color is the natural reading of an 18k gold dial disc or applied gold chapter ring against a yellow-gold case, less a design choice than the default material expression. In steel cases, a gold-colored dial creates a two-tone visual that occupies the space between the plain steel-dial dress watch and the full precious-metal alternative.
