The cal 52010 powers IWC's flagship Big Pilot and offers a seven-day (168-hour) power reserve from two mainspring barrels. The Pellaton automatic winding system uses ceramic balls and pawls to reduce friction in the winding train, a distinguishing technical feature at the price. The power reserve display is mechanically linked to the mainspring barrel, not estimated from a secondary train.

Known service issues

  • Pellaton winding system ceramic balls require correct lubrication at service; improper reassembly leads to inefficient winding
  • Seven-day mainspring tension varies meaningfully between full and depleted; accuracy degrades more noticeably at low reserve than most movements
