Brand history

Founded 2004 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Neuchâtel, by Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey — two watchmakers who left Renaud et Papi (the high-complications subsidiary of Audemars Piguet) to pursue an extreme finishing-and-construction agenda. The brand's defining premise is that every piece, including the prosaic ones, is hand-finished to the standard the industry reserves for grand-complication tourbillon plates: the GMT Sport's titanium case shows polished bevels, mirror-finished black-polished surfaces, and engraved engraving that the brand documents in micron tolerances. Annual production is roughly 100 watches across the entire catalog. The Hand Made 1 (announced 2019, delivered 2020 onwards) is built ~95% by hand including the hairspring — production is a handful per year. Greubel Forsey is one of the most-finishing-oriented makers in modern haute horlogerie.
