Vienna
Originally founded 1822 by Carl Suchy (born 1796) as a clock manufacture in Prague; the family business grew across the Habsburg empire, serving the Austro-Hungarian imperial court and operating a pocket-watch factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds from 1849. The house closed in 1918 with the empire’s dissolution and lay dormant for nearly a century. Revived 2017 in Vienna by Robert Punkenhofer in collaboration with AHCI member Marc Jenni; the Waltz No. 1 — a 41mm Vaucher-micro-rotor automatic with a dial inspired by Adolf Loos’s fin-de-siècle Vienna interiors — is the line’s defining reference. Production is in the low hundreds per year.
Wienerwald
Founded by Maria and Richard Habring in Sulz im Wienerwald, in the Vienna Woods west of the Austrian capital. Richard Habring designed the IWC Doppelchronograph rattrapante module in the 1990s; the modern Habring² workshop produces roughly 200 watches per year, including the in-house A11 caliber family. The only Austria-based brand currently in the catalog.
